Meet Allison

Allison is my co-worker's daughter. She just had her first birthday. My co-worker sends us pictures of Allison every so often and it feels like I am watching her grow right next me. The workplace can be dreadful and stressful sometimes, but whenever I see little Allison's new picture, it brightens up my day at work. Allison is our office's sunshine girl!

She warms my heart

No, not Phoebe. Well, she does warm my heart but I am really talking about my sweet puppy Charlie. Here are the top ten things Charlie does that makes me so happy to have her in my life:
  1. Wagging mini-tail every time I come up
  2. Crazy high jumping on a regular basis
  3. Non-stop energy for playing ball
  4. So freaking cute you wouldn't believe it
  5. Funny smile, especially when she's been running around
  6. Scares herself when she has gas (because she doesn't know where the noise is coming from)
  7. Gives me kisses when I am sad and when I'm not
  8. Will do tricks for carrots or green beans
  9. Curls up in bed next to me for naps
  10. Unconditional love and constant affection
I do not understand non-dog people - who wouldn't want all of these wonderful things in their life? Sure, a dog is a lot of responsibility but there are so many benefits that they make up for any extra work or time commitment required.
Hello? Hello? Is this thing on?

My precious

Yes! This is my first flute. I've always wanted to learn flute ever since I was young. However, I never had a chance to learn it. This quarter I started flute lessons and I love it! I also take group flute class at the university. My first day of class I was so nervous I could only make a couple of squeaks come out of the flute. I was sweating really bad too. However, my instructor asked me to keep trying and not to give up. I was very happy to hear that and I am still in her class. I practice everyday for about an hour and that's the best part of my day. It will be great if I can play my Dad's favorite hymn on his next memorial day.

sidekick sunshine

Me and my two sisters are very close. We are like best friends. After we moved to the U.S. we got even closer. I guess because we were pretty much all by ourselves. When I came to Columbus, OH from Albany, NY to go to college, my sisters would send letters to me every week.

One day I got letters from my sisters and each had three stamps. I asked why they had put three stamps because it was very wasteful.

My youngest sister said "I thought if we put extra stamps, it would make the letters go faster. We want you to get our letters as quickly as possible."

I couldn't stop crying that night ...

My Mom, my eternal sunshine...

My father passed away six years ago. It was the saddest moment of my
life. My Mom never lost her faith during this difficult time. Even
though we would cry sometimes when we recalled past memories of my Dad,
she always gave us hopeful words and prayed for us. My Mom is full of
life and I am very happy to see her enjoying life. She is my eternal
Sunshine.

"My Mother, my friend so dear
throughout my life you're always near.
A tender smile to guide my way
You're the sunshine to light my day."

Haleakala Sunrise

I didn't realize how much I love taking sun-related photos until now. This sunrise picture was taken from Haleakala Volcano in Maui, Hawaii in 2003. I got up at 2:30 a.m. to drive up the mountain. It was so dark and cold. Waiting for the sunrise seemed to take forever. However, from the moment when the first tiny bit of light started showing to the full sunrise was one most amazing thing I have ever seen. One man proposed to his girlfriend right after sunrise. That was so romantic.

Yellow Flower

As I pull my car into my driveway, I see my little sunshines! They are my newly blossomed daffodils. Even though we had an unusual winter, they all survived and have begun to bloom. Their yellow color is just so beautiful!
